Nela MQG recently met for our October Meeting and had a great time. Marty demonstrated the math behind those pesky triangles and placing blocks on point. I badly needed that because I have the worst time calculating a triangle to match a square. The math just makes no sense to me. So thanks Marty, for clearing that up for us!
Afterwards we stayed to sew. We had so many projects going… paper piecing, binding, marking fabric from templates….we were some busy bees. We even had an impromptu demonstration on using the rotary cutter and cutting strips. You just never know what we’ll be talking about.
During our sew time we were talking (of course) about different projects and decided to demo and work on quilt as you go (QAYG) next month. The idea was to plan a bag project and use QAYG for the body. More to come on that in the next few weeks. We will let you know in plenty of time to get your fabric ready.
Also the decision was made to join the Modern Quilt Guild, so we’re official now. Being small has its benefits in this case. We were able to join as a provisional guild since we are under 10 members.
Next month’s short demo will be paper piecing and will be held during the scheduled meeting time of 10:00 – 12:00. Sit and Sew will follow and we will be working with QAYG for anyone wanting to stay and play.
Hope to see you there,
