We have reserved a group camp that can house over 50 people, so there is plenty of room.  Living conditions are dormitory style with bunk beds and shower stalls. See the website for more details.

$100 covers weekend lodging and meals (2 dinner, 2 breakfast and 1 lunch). $50 deposit required to reserve your spot. $50 balance is due by June 15th.

What you need to bring: Sewing machine, fabrics, sewing tools, etc. Your favorite drinks and snacks. If you do not have a table for your sewing machine, let us know.

We have plenty of room, so feel free to invite a friend. With two dormitories available, male and female are welcome.  (Note:  Concern has been raised regarding space in the common room.  We may limit this to 20 attendees.  We will know more soon.)

January Meeting and Half Square Rectangles

Hello All,

I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas and that you are looking forward to a happy New Year.  As for myself, as I approach the New Year, I seem to be in full planning mode!

Our next meeting will be Saturday, January 10th, 10:00 – 12:00 at The Quilt N Stitch.

Marty sent me a fun resource for half rectangle triangles she thought you would enjoy.  So I will be doing a short demo on the difference in sewing half square triangles (HST) and half rectangle triangles (HRT).  If you want to skip ahead to see what will be covered, visit the following photo links:

Ooohhh!  Just found another version for this quilt.  Oldie, but way Goodie!

Plans for 2015

During the meting we will also discuss program ideas for the coming year.  If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear them.  Maybe something you’ve wanted to learn or play with.  Maybe an old favorite.  All ideas are welcome.  Can be program ideas for meetings, longer projects, challenges, charities, etc.

Free Motion Quilting

Spending a day honing our Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) skills has been mentioned in the past.  If that is something you are interested in, please let me know in the comments below.  This would be an all day workshop.  If there is a month that would be good (or bad) for you, again, let me know in the comments.  I will set this program based on interest.

We have been working on another retreat and have the dates and place set.  Reservations are set for Hodges Gardens State Park for July 24 – 26 (Fri-Sun).  We are booking the group lodge which will allow us to easily accept more quilters to retreat.  If anything, we will have too much room!!  Nice problem.  😀

Flyers and registrations sheets are being prepared now so watch for them to appear on the blog shortly.  Just a few details…(1) we are not limiting this to Nela MQG guild members, so feel free to invite friends or pass the info to other quilters if you think it may be of interest, and (2) the cost will be $100 for the weekend and will include dinner Friday, all meals Saturday, and breakfast Sunday.  $50 Deposits will be required to hold your spot.

Again, watch for more details to appear on this blog within the next week.

I hope to see you at the January meeting and be sure to bring any new creations for show and tell.  Until then, have a safe and happy New Year!

December Meeting and Wide Mouth Zipper Pouch

wide mouth zippered pouch
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are recovering from the food induced comas.  It’s amazing how quickly we switch from Thanksgiving to Christmas mode.  Just in case I miss the chance, I wanted to wish you all a blessed Christmas season full of family,  friends and joy.
At our December meeting, Marty will be demonstrating the wide mouth zippered pouch.  This is a great last minute Christmas gift.  We will be sewing along and the supply list is included below.   Of course, you can always just come and visit, but we would love for all who want to sew with us to bring a machine and some cute fabric.  You’ll leave with a cute, fuss free gift.  Our next meeting will be …
