I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas and that you are looking forward to a happy New Year. As for myself, as I approach the New Year, I seem to be in full planning mode!
Our next meeting will be Saturday, January 10th, 10:00 – 12:00 at The Quilt N Stitch.
Marty sent me a fun resource for half rectangle triangles she thought you would enjoy. So I will be doing a short demo on the difference in sewing half square triangles (HST) and half rectangle triangles (HRT). If you want to skip ahead to see what will be covered, visit the following photo links:
Ooohhh! Just found another version for this quilt. Oldie, but way Goodie!
Plans for 2015
During the meting we will also discuss program ideas for the coming year. If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear them. Maybe something you’ve wanted to learn or play with. Maybe an old favorite. All ideas are welcome. Can be program ideas for meetings, longer projects, challenges, charities, etc.
Free Motion Quilting
Spending a day honing our Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) skills has been mentioned in the past. If that is something you are interested in, please let me know in the comments below. This would be an all day workshop. If there is a month that would be good (or bad) for you, again, let me know in the comments. I will set this program based on interest.
We have been working on another retreat and have the dates and place set. Reservations are set for Hodges Gardens State Park for July 24 – 26 (Fri-Sun). We are booking the group lodge which will allow us to easily accept more quilters to retreat. If anything, we will have too much room!! Nice problem. 😀
Flyers and registrations sheets are being prepared now so watch for them to appear on the blog shortly. Just a few details…(1) we are not limiting this to Nela MQG guild members, so feel free to invite friends or pass the info to other quilters if you think it may be of interest, and (2) the cost will be $100 for the weekend and will include dinner Friday, all meals Saturday, and breakfast Sunday. $50 Deposits will be required to hold your spot.
Again, watch for more details to appear on this blog within the next week.
I hope to see you at the January meeting and be sure to bring any new creations for show and tell. Until then, have a safe and happy New Year!
